Verde Flowers: Eco-Friendly Wedding Flowers

In an era where many of us are becoming more mindful of our carbon footprint, I’m speaking to more and more couples who are consciously making an effort to buy seasonal and local wherever possible.

Just last week I met with a couple who were delighted that they had been able to find a supplier for eco-friendly wedding flowers, and it prompted me to write about my good friend Caroline at Verde Flowers.

Hand picked wedding flowers

I first heard about Verde Flowers when photographing a beautiful wedding in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales (you can read all about the day here). The bride and groom told me all about how they had personally handpicked their wedding flowers and bouquet, and I thought wow, what a unique and personal experience! I imagine it is also a welcomed escape in that final (often stressful) lead up to the wedding.

Caroline and I both hit it off straight away! Caroline said she was drawn in by the movement and natural tones in my images, and we agreed this perfectly complemented Verde Flowers, so we arranged a shoot day on the farm. Nothing staged – just a candid visual diary of life on the farm.

Life on the farm

During my time at Verde Flowers, Caroline and I spent hours chatting about our shared experiences in the industry, what inspires us to keep creating, how we can get better at helping save the planet, and how to stand out in what is a very competitive and talented market.

All throughout our time together I was snapping away, documenting life on the farm, from weeding the flower beds to creating a beautiful urn of wild flowers.

Caroline has a really special thing at Verde Flowers.

Your wedding day passes you by in the blink of an eye, and it can be really easy to miss the details on the day, so why not make the most of the experience and get involved in the process.

Plus, Caroline and the team are very lovely, they always have a secret stash of great cake and you might even be lucky enough to meet the the gorgeous Luna!

Here are some of my favourite images from the shoot…
