First Look Wedding Photography
Leticia & Aaron
When I mention first look wedding photography, most people ask the same question – what is a first look!?
A first look is just that, an opportunity to see each other for the first time, before the ceremony takes place.
You see it might not be ‘tradition’ for a couple to see each other before the ceremony, but here’s the thing, the more weddings I’m a part of the more I realise that people make their own tradition.
It’s your day, so you do you!
Anyway, I digress! I personally think a first look is a great option for lots of reasons, for example if you’re nervous about the day it can help calm the nerves, if there are limitations at your venue or church that worry you, or if you’re working to a tight timeline on the day and you want to be able to look back on that moment you saw each other for the first time.
Leticia and Aaron’s wedding journey was so much fun to be a part of. They opted for a first look in place of a pre-wedding shoot, and chose the Monsal Trail as the location. It was a perfect autumnal day complete with clear blue skies, turning leaves and golden light. That afternoon, I met Leticia and Aaron at the Acorn jewellers in Bakewell, where they collected their wedding rings. The lovely folk at Acorn Jewellers then let Leticia and Aaron change in the back of the shop; it was like a military operation for the two of them to change without getting a glimpse of each other, but we did it!
We managed to get to the trail unseen, where Aaron was patiently waiting for his future wife…
I absolutely love the Peak District; it’s an amazing area for photography all year round. I’ve written blog posts about summer and winter shoots previously, why not take a little look at those whilst you’re here.
